2025 Topo Tracks

Track #1 – Takoda & Haley

• Date: 9-13-25

• Hunter(s): Takoda & Haley

• Dog: Topo – Blackmouth Cur

• Shot Report: Forward and possibly high.

• Deer Reaction: Jumped ~20 yards back into the woods, stood briefly, then walked off calmly.

• Time Until Track: ~4 hours after impact.

• Topo’s Work: Released at hit site → tracked ~250 yards → located buck bedded on a small hill.

• Outcome: Deer was alive and mobile. Topo confirmed but did not push. Hunters opted to leave it.

• Follow-Up: Deer reappeared alive on trail cam at 3:00 a.m. the next morning.

• Result: No recovery – deer confirmed alive.

Track #2 – Riley & Friends

• Date: 9-14-25

• Hunter(s): Riley & crew (Barnsley Gardens area)

• Dog: Topo – Blackmouth Cur

• Shot Report: Broadside from a ground blind. Arrow had heavy blood, but no blood trail beyond impact site.

• Prior Attempt: Another dog was put on it the night before, but showed no strong interest.

• Topo’s Work: Picked up track confidently → worked it over 1.5 miles to a golf course → jumped a deer from a bed with large tracks leading in and out.

• Pursuit: Topo ran the deer in ~½-mile circle, then broke off.

• Outcome: Track indicated deer still alive and mobile.

• Follow-Up: No confirmed recovery. Evidence supports survival, but not yet confirmed.

• Result: No recovery – deer likely alive.
