Caping your trophy

Guys we are days away from the Ga opener so we better go ahead and get some good information in your hands! I’ve found a video and a good picture detailing the process and the cuts needed for a good cape, those pics and link will be below. I’m not gonna bore everyone with trying to explain here what they have already done, instead a quick checklist. Ya’ll go check out that content.

10 CAPE COMMANDMENTS

  1. Get caped out as soon as possible.

  2. Get cool as soon as possible

  3. As soon as that animal dies you are on the clock against slippage

  4. Your processors cooler IS NOT COOL ENOUGH to wait until your meat is done to get your cape

  5. Don’t cut the brown line on the chest

  6. Study how to cape a deer if you are going out of state.

  7. You CANNOT HAVE too much cape

  8. Protect the face at all cost

  9. Wrap fur thru horns and around face to store

  10. NOT EVERYONE KNOWS HOW TO CAPE. LEARN SO IT’S YOUR FAULT IF ITS SCREWED UP!
